Summer Program in Dakar, Senegal
The Senegalese Studies Program offers students the opportunity to spend six weeks living and studying in Dakar, Senegal’s vibrant, coastal capital. Dakar blends modern amenities with the cultural tradition of diverse ethnic groups. Senegal, Africa’s westernmost country, has played a significant role in the politics, arts and culture of West Africa. Coursework will introduce students to Senegalese culture through its literature, film, and performing arts. Students may also choose to study Wolof, one of the principal languages spoken in Senegal. Students live with Senegalese families. Excursions complement the coursework and may include Gorée Island and Saint-Louis, among others.
