Dependent Coverage
Students may enroll their eligible* dependents in the Student BASIC Plan only. Dependent Enrollment is for the current policy year only and does not automatically roll-over to the next policy year. The Open Enrollment Deadline for dependents is September 30, 2009, unless you or your dependent has a significant life change (such as marriage, divorce, or the birth or adoption of a child) that directly affects the insurance coverage. Students enrolled in the Fall Semester: To enroll your dependents in the Student BASIC Plan, visit Aetna Student Health’s website. Click on the “Benefit Details” tab for your school and campus, and then select the “Enroll Your Dependents” button. For students enrolled for the 2009/2010 policy year effective August 23, 2009, through August 22, 2010, the dependent rates are:
These rates are separate from the student's own medical insurance charge that is assessed to the student's account. (Professional Medical students (i.e. M.D. candidates), Dermatology students and Goldman School of Dental Medicine students may visit their school’s web site for information on plan rates and coverage dates. PLEASE NOTE: You must be an Aetna Student Health member to add your dependents to the plan. Dependent premiums will be charged to your Boston University student account seven to fourteen business days after you submit your online enrollment. You will be responsible for payment in full of any resulting balance due. *Eligible dependents are the insured student's lawful spouse and unmarried dependent children under 19 years of age who reside with, and are fully supported by, the covered student. Note: Dependents of the student enrolled in the plan are not able to be seen at Student Health Services and do not require a referral from Student Health Services to access the outpatient benefits.
