Joan C. Rapp, M.Ed., CAGS, Training Associate

Training Associate

Joan Rapp is a Training Associate whose role is to develop a wide range of live and online training opportunities, coordinating with various other training partners. She utilizes the information and knowledge from the Center’s past 25 years of experience and from new research initiatives to form training and training materials.

She was previously employed by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) for 27 years in management and program development capacities always with a focus on psychiatric rehabilitation. For five years she was Director of the Community Support Program federal initiative for Massachusetts (DMH). Prior to that she worked for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission for ten years as Supervisor of Mental Health Programs, Area Director and Rehabilitation Counselor. She served on the Center’s Advisory Board for the first five years.

Ms. Rapp has been instrumental in the development of Supported Employment, Supported Education, Rehabilitation Clubhouse Programs, Consumer Advocacy (M-POWER), family supports and other rehabilitation services. Much of her efforts were directed at creating local networks especially in the North East area. She has co-chaired and served on the coordinating committee of the Friends, Voices for Recovery and rehabilitation for 25 years which has provided over 100 forums on Rehabilitation and recovery topics around the state. She was one of the founders of the New England IAPSRS (now MA.- PRA, RI - PRA etc.). .
