The 2008 dinner and awards presentation was held on Thursday, March 27, 2008, in Metcalf Hall at the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Avenue. A cocktail hour began at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner and awards ceremony. Joseph Mercurio, Executive Vice President, was this year's Master of Ceremonies.

There were a total of 86 employees being honored for 25 years of service as of June 30, 2008, and 71 retirees who had announced their plans to retire from the University.

A separate luncheon to honor 307 employees who had 10 years of service as of June 30, 2008, was held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, also in Metcalf Hall.

Eligible employees who planned to retire this year, but did not announce it before February 21, 2008, will be included in next year's program.

To be recognized as a retiree at next year's Service Recognition Dinner, you must be at least 55 years of age and have completed at least 10 years of service by June 30 of the year in which the dinner is being hosted.
