  1. What kinds of courses are offered at Metropolitan College?

    MET offers over 800 graduate and undergraduate courses in topics such as actuarial science, criminal justice, gastronomy, biotechnology, software engineering, and e-commerce.

  2. Do I have to be in a degree program in order to take courses at Metropolitan College?

    No. Most Metropolitan College courses are open to degree and non-degree students alike, however, for most financial aid (including work-study programs, scholarships, and student loans) you must be a degree candidate.

  3. Is the degree I earn at Metropolitan College a Boston University degree?

    Yes. Metropolitan College, as part of Boston University, is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, one of six nationally recognized regional accrediting agencies. When you successfully complete a degree program with us, you receive a diploma stating that you have earned your degree at Boston University's Metropolitan College.

  4. I am a first time student. How do I register for a course?

    You may either download the registration form or pick it up at Metropolitan College’s Administrative Office (755 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 103). Complete the registration form and mail, fax, or deliver it to the Office of the University Registrar:

  5. How do I know if I’m registered for a class?

    First time students can verify registration by contacting the Office of the University Registrar at 617-353-3612. Continuing students can verify registration online at Student Link.

  6. I found a class that I’m interested in on the Metropolitan College website. How can I find out if it’s offered this semester?

    To search for courses offered during the current or upcoming semester, visit the Boston University Course Schedule online. You may also request a copy of the current semester course schedule by calling 617-353-6000 or pick one up at 755 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 103.

  7. I noticed that the course I want to take requires “Stamped Approval.” What do I need to do?

    The Metropolitan College Administrative Department handles stamped approval. They are located at 755 Commonwealth Avenue, Room 103 and can be contacted at 617-353-3000.

  8. As a student at Metropolitan College, do I have access to University activities and facilities?

    Yes. When you register for courses at Metropolitan College, you should request a student identification card. This card will admit you to many University events and services available only to Boston University students, including University libraries and research centers. Your ID card will also entitle you to discounted parking on campus after 5 p.m. You may acquire an ID at the Office of the University Registrar, 881 Commonwealth Avenue, Second Floor or from the Terrier Card Office, 775 Commonwealth Avenue, Lower Level.

  9. Who will be attending classes with me?

    At Metropolitan College, you are likely to find students ranging from young adults to senior citizens. They are people of different backgrounds, experience, and academic training. Many hold full-time jobs during the day, and some are acquiring skills that will enable them to reenter the work force, but all hold something in common: the desire to learn and the commitment to achievement.

  11. As a Metropolitan College student, may I enroll in courses at Boston University that are not offered by Metropolitan College?

    Yes. During the fall and spring semesters you may enroll in Boston University courses outside of Metropolitan College if appropriate. However, you must register for a majority of your course load at MET during any given semester.

  12. Does Metropolitan College offer classes in locations other than Boston?

    Although most of our courses are held on Boston University's Charles River Campus in Boston, we also offer courses online and at our location in Chelmsford. We also offer graduate programs on military bases in Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Virginia. If you plan to travel abroad, Metropolitan College also offers graduate degree programs in Brussels, Belgium. Undergraduate students are eligible to participate in Boston University's International Study Abroad Program.

  13. What if I am still uncertain of what I want to do?

    Don't worry. Many people have questions about courses, admissions policies, and program alternatives. That's why we have a full-time academic counseling service at Metropolitan College. If you need advice on academic issues, financial assistance, or any scholastic questions, we're here to help. The College's academic counselors are available to all students, whether or not you are enrolled in a degree program.
