A Message from the Division Head

Professor Uday Pal

Materials Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that combines the knowledge-base of various disciplines to study and develop revolutionary materials that impact our everyday life. The new Division of Materials Science and Engineering at Boston University is built on a strong interdisciplinary foundation that combines cutting-edge materials research in various departments in the College of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, and the Medical School.

Novel biomaterials, solid-state lighting, fuel cells, and photonic materials are but a few examples of exciting current materials research activities at Boston University that are likely to fundamentally impact life in the 21st century.  Building on our strengths we will pursue a new paradigm that will take our program in exciting new directions in biotechnology and life sciences, energy technologies, nanotechnology, and computational materials science.

I invite you to come and share the excitement.
