The Vice President for Information Systems & Technology (VP-IST) is responsible for overseeing planning, development, acquisition, delivery, and support of institutional computing, communications, and information technology services and resources. IST is the umbrella organization for BU Information Technology—including BU Telecommunications—and University Information Systems. IST provides institutional planning, operation, and support of administrative computing; large components of academic and research computing; campus wired and wireless networks; external network connectivity; the telephone and cable television systems; the University’s principal electronic mail servers and service; enterprise authentication and authorization systems; institutional Web-based courseware, information, presentation, and application systems and services; and personal computer sales, service, and support.
