Professor Chan specializes in using decision-sciences analysis tools to evaluate different screening methods and treatment strategies in improving children health. Understanding the costs and benefits of particular effective interventions can help policymakers allocate funds to appropriate programs and make changes to public health policy in developed and developing countries. New directions of her research are aimed to further understand the inter-relationships between genomics, immunologic, cultural, environmental, and social factors involved in affecting population health and health disparities. She teaches courses related to topics in public health and genomic research.
