About the Program

The nutritional science program has two curricular options, both of which provide a broad background in the biological, chemical, and nutritional sciences.

Nutritional Science Option

This area of study provides a strong background in the biological and chemical sciences and prepares students for graduate study in nutrition or any of the life sciences, as well as for entry into medical, dental or veterinary school. This option also prepares students for entry-level employment in the biomedical sciences in both academic and industrial settings.

Dietetics Option

This area of study is designed for students who want to earn the professional credential “Registered Dietitian”. Registered Dietitians work in hospitals, clinics, athletic clubs and in private practice. They also work for food companies, in the pharmaceutical industry, in public health and as consultants to professional sports teams, restaurants and corporations. After completing the dietetics option, students must complete an American Dietetics Association (ADA) accredited Dietetic Internship to be eligible to take the Registration Exam of the ADA and earn the credential “Registered Dietitian”.
