The Department of Occupational Therapy at BU Sargent College is dedicated to promoting the health, well-being, and quality of life of persons experiencing disabilities.

Students in the occupational therapyprograms receive outstanding preparation for roles in both traditional settings and newly emerging areas of need. Programs in Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists promote the health and well-being of individuals and populations through participation in meaningful daily activities (occupations), including self-maintenance, work, other productive activities, play, leisure, and socialization.

Program Focus: To prepare excellent practitioners who are prepared to provide occupation-focused, client-centered, and evidence-based services and are committed to leadership in practice.

Possible Career Paths:

  • Practice as an occupational therapist in schools, rehabilitation centers, homes, community agencies, mental health facilities, general hospitals, private practice, and international service organizations.
  • Provide consultation to other healthcare professionals, schools, agencies, and businesses.
  • Teach in occupational therapy professional programs.
  • Conduct research.
