Intra-University Transfer Application Procedures

Please submit applications by April 1 for fall admissions and November 1 for spring admissions. You will be notified of a decision within three weeks of the deadline.

Please submit the following to Deborah Claar by the deadline:

  • A one-page, typed essay explaining why you are applying for admission to the specific BU Sargent College program you chose.
  • A Program Change Form (including your local address with box or apartment number) listing courses that are in progress at the time the application for transfer is filed.

After meeting with Deborah Claar and receiving application materials, please submit a completed Request for Photocopy of Records Form (available as a download below) to the IUT Coordinator at your present school (a list of contacts is on the enclosed form). A copy of your high school grades and SAT scores will then be sent to Sargent College.

Note: A 2.3 G.P.A. is required to matriculate into the junior year of most programs unless otherwise stated. Students may not transfer into any BU Sargent College major during the first semester of freshman year. There are also no transfer opportunities into the undeclared option. Applications may be submitted once you have completed one full semester at Boston University unless otherwise noted.
