Graduation
All students must fill out an Application for Graduation (May, September, January). and meet with their advisors to ensure that all degree requirements are met. The Application for Graduation must be signed by your advisor and submitted to the Academic Services Center (Room 207). It is required that this form be submitted by February 1st of your last year of study to ensure that your name is included in the graduation list and commencement programs.
All students (January, May and September) are invited to participate in the May commencement ceremony if they have completed all coursework by that date. Doctoral students must check with their advisor as to their eligibility to participate.
All senior students are encouraged to fill out a Sargent College Senior Profile sheet and sign up to meet with the Academic Counselor in room 207 of the Academic Services Center to discuss future plans. This information will remain an integral part of your file in case you want a recommendation or to become active in the Alumni Association.
Registration
To register, students should select their classes from the Class Schedule. Most continuing students are eligible to use TelReg and WebReg to register for their semester classes. Incoming freshmen or first-time students are not eligible to use TelReg and WebReg and must follow the walk-in or mail in registration procedure using a Registration Form. Walk in registration at the Registrar's Office or room 207 is available. The advisor signature is required on all registration forms. An advising authorization code for use with TelReg is required for undergraduate and graduate students.
Class Adjustments
After registering for classes, students can adjust their schedules any time during the registration period (prior to the first day of the semester) on a seat-available basis, using a Class Adjustment Form, the Terrier Phone-TelReg option, or by WebReg on the Student Link. Beginning on the first day of each semester, the instructor's signature on a class adjustment form is required to add all classes. Eligible students may use TelReg and WebReg to drop classes until the deadline for dropping with a 'W' grade.
Cross Registration Procedures for Boston University Students
Sargent students should obtain a Cross-Registration Petition from the Boston University Registrar's Office or from the host institution. The completed Cross-Registration Petition must be signed by the student's advisor or dean, and by the host institution course instructor. The signed Cross-Registration Petition must be submitted to the host institution's registrar's office for official registration. Both full-time and part-time degree candidates at Boston University are eligible to cross-register at the following institutions with which Boston University has a consortium agreement: Boston College, Brandeis University, Tufts University, and Hebrew College.
Students may cross-register for only one course per semester. Cross-registration is not available during summer semesters. Students will be charged by Boston University. Students who exceed 18 credits per semester will be charged at the prevailing standard day rate. Grades will be forwarded to Boston University at the conclusion of the semester.
