Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Awarded $2.5 Million Grant
Tuesday, November 8, 2005
(Boston) – This November marks the beginning of work on a new 5-year grant awarded to The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University . The Knowledge Dissemination and Utilization (KDU) grant, funded by the National Institute on Disability & Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) through the Disability Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP), awards $500,000 for each of the five years.
The Center's work through this grant will promote the use of rehabilitation research through the development of a set of research standards that will allow end-users (consumers, family members, service providers and other researchers) to make informed choices about the usefulness of research. These standards will be tested for applicability across different types of disability fields, i.e. psychiatric disabilities, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis. The project will develop a set of dissemination products available on a website entitled “The Right to Know”.
Marianne Farkas, Sc.D. and E. Sally Rogers, Sc.D. are the co-principal investigators.
The Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation is affiliated with Boston University Sargent College and the Rehabilitation Counseling Program. The Center is a research, training, and service organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons who have psychiatric disabilities by improving the effectiveness of people, programs, and service systems.
