Teach in Your Own Classroom A Year from September

Talented students from across the nation prepare to become teachers in as little as one year at the Boston University School of Education. As a Boston University School of Education graduate student, you will gain deep knowledge of the historical, philosophical, social, and political issues underpinning our work with children in the classroom. You will directly engage with diverse aspects of education — strong programs in public, independent, and international school and non-school settings — to shape and enhance your understanding of teaching and learning and to add richness and excitement to your educational experience.

We offer in-depth instruction in curriculum design, classroom teaching techniques, and extensive classroom experience in both urban and suburban schools. Our master’s programs lead to licensure/certification as a preschool, elementary, middle, or high school teacher. During your graduate studies, you will:

  • Gain valuable knowledge in a classroom pre-practicum
  • Apply your skills as you student teach
  • Meet requirements for teaching licensure/certification for Massachusetts, which has reciprocal agreements with 44 other states

The School of Education designed these programs for strong liberal arts graduates just out of college or those making a career change and does not presume you have completed prior coursework in education. Successful students have traditionally come from a wide variety of undergraduate majors.
