Visiting Filmmaker Workshop
In recent years, Boston University Summer Term has proudly presented the Visiting Filmmaker Workshop.
This series of workshops provides students of film with access to award-winning filmmakers, allowing for the exchange of ideas and dialogue in a hands-on setting. Under the guidance of professional filmmakers and video artists, students explore topics of filmmaking including theory, technique, and conceptual realization.
In the meantime, here are some examples of workshops offered in past years:
Summer Term 2007
Visiting Filmmaker: Leighton Pierce, acclaimed digital filmmaker, winner
of over 90 festival awards, and recipient of fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Endowment
Workshop Topic: Developing creative relationships between sound and image
Summer Term 2006
Visiting Filmmaker: Jon Jost, digital video auteur and the first recipient of the John Cassavetes Award for Lifetime Achievement as an Independent Filmmaker
Workshop Topic: The creative and technical aspects specific to digital video, including the symbiotic relationship between editing and shooting in the digital realm
