Commuting Students
Below is information about commuting options for students in Boston University’s Summer Term High School Programs.
High School Honors and Research Internship
Because dorm life is an important aspect of the college experience—helping you form closer bonds with other students—we encourage you to live on campus. However, students in the High School Honors and Research Internship in Science & Engineering programs do have the option of commuting to campus each day.
If you choose to commute, you will still be responsible for the $500 program fee, and we expect your full participation in all planned program activities. Commuting students are also able to put "convenience points" on their Terrier Cards, in order to have meals in Boston University dining facilities.
Students residing at their home during the program must submit a letter from their parents or guardians stating this fact. Students who will be staying with a relative for the duration of the program will need to submit the following permission letters:
- A letter from your parent(s) or guardian(s) giving you permission to stay with your relatives.
- A letter from your relative(s) stating their names, relationship to you, address, and emergency phone number.
- A further statement from your relative(s) acknowledging that they will be at their address during the entire six weeks of the program, and that they accept responsibility for you during that time.
Summer Challenge
There is no option to commute in Summer Challenge. Students must reside on campus.
Summer Preview
The Summer Preview is for commuting students only. There is no option to reside on campus.
Lunches are part of the program fee and are provided at the Warren Towers dining room.
