Editing CSS Styles

Your CSS Styles palette features two modes -- Apply Styles mode and Edit Styles mode. You can specify the mode by selecting the appropriate radio button. As you are formatting your pages, you should use Apply Styles mode. This allows you to simply highlight your text and click the style name in the palette to apply the style to your selected text.

To edit CSS styles, go to the CSS Styles palette and change the mode to Edit Styles. Now when you doube-click on a style name, your style definition dialogue box will open that style in editing mode.

The Edit Styles mode now allows you direct editing access to all your CSS Styles, including redefined HTML tags, custom styles, and CSS Selectors. This is much improved over previous versions of Dreamweaver, where you had to go through several mouse clicks to see a list of styles that included your redefined HTML tags.
